Below are common sentences you hear when people talk
about the weather in French. You will notice that we use
similar sentences in English.

Il fait du brouillard. (It’s foggy)
Il neige. (It’s snowing)
Il fait chaud. (It’s hot)
Il fait froid. (It’s cold)
Il y a des nuages. (There are clouds)
If it is windy, cold and raining or snowing, you would say:

One way to express the temperature is to say:

To express preference in French we commonly use two verbs:
Aimer and Préférer
If someone asks you, “Which do you like, Summer or Winter?”
Your reply would either be:
J’aime l’été. Or J’aime l’hiver.

If someone asks you, “Which do you prefer, Summer or Winter?”
Your reply would either be:
Je préfère l’été. Or Je préfère l’hiver.
